- prostituzione minorile
- testicoli essiccati trasformati in amuleti

“["E' un mondo difficile, sang Tonino Carotone once in one of his best known songs (Me Cago en el Amor). Maybe that could've been a good song to describe this film, since that's kind of the attitude of this mondo film."]

Nudo e crudele is mondo, exploitation, call it what you will but sometimes it feels a tad above average. Like a nice postcard sealed with a kiss to remind us how innocent we were. A lot of the stuff presented here as oddities are common practices now, just odd customs that may have raised eyebrows or left mouths wide open in a time when seeing an elephant having sex was an actually not easy to do.

Just for context, Discovery Channel was not a thing yet and Africa still feels like uncharted territory.

The concept here was simple: frame the naked reality to titillate the audience. There were lots of faux docs like this one, those Italians were really into this stuff. The problem is for sequences that feel unnatural, prepared, staged. You have a brutal scene that involves Komodo dragons and a goat at a swamp. A goat that seemed planted, which sucks. It truly fucked me up watching the poor animal being ravished... I saw her die.

I dunno about you, but when I see this type of films, they always leave me with a weird sensation inside. Like I just witness something I was not supposed to see... Do you remember that scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where they eat the brain of the primates? (fuck you, that's not a spoiler!) How did that make you feel? Well, imagine a film where that sensation sticks with you for over 90 minutes.

The worse analogy I can think of will serve to explain it: imagine yourself drinking water from a river and when you raise your head, you realize there's a deer family squeezing out massive dumps of poo... and the current is coming your way...

If after reading the last paragraph, you think it was a metaphor and that you are the person drinking the water while I represent the deer writing shit... Well, my friend, I think we have closed a circle.

This was the second Italian film I've watched without subtitles, after a while, I felt completely immersed and I was actually able to understand more than I thought. Plus... you really don't need the descriptions, what you see on the screen needs no explanations. Yes, I'm looking at you, soccer with no legs people,

I doubt I'll return to this, ever. I mean, I can sacrifice my good taste up to 5 times a month, but this is different. If you want to see it as a lost episode of Wild Boyz, be my guest. In the end, the resolution is that we live in a nude and cruel world and, since this is one of those subtle, classy films (#sarcasm), they decided to end it with a whooper, in an Asian strip club.” - Some Very Thorough Dude On Letterboxd
